How to Add contacts and get a buddy list

 

How much does it cost?

That depends on how many credits you buy(bulk purchases are cheaper). This starts at 10 cents per message and gets cheaper as you buy more credits! All prices include GST for Australian customers. A tax invoice is produced for your records.

Are there any other costs involved to send SMS?

There are no setup fees or monthly fees or any other additional fees. We operate on a prepay basis. The credits that you buy do not expire. So if you buy them now and only use them 6 months down the line, that is no problem. They will always be on your account at your disposal. Users do not pay for replies. It does not cost anything extra to be able to customize the sender ID.

Am I able to trial the service before I buy some credits?

Yes. We can offer you a completely FREE demo so that you can see just how good our service is. Simply register online and we will get you started with 25 free sms credits to get going!

How do I buy credits?

We work on a prepaid basis. To purchase credits you have 2 options:

  1. On our web site with a credit card - The following credit cards are accepted: Mastercard, Visa and Debit cards.
  2. Via bank deposit or electronic funds transfer to our bank account. If you would like us to send you an invoice beforehand, please forward your username, the number of credits you would like to purchase, as well as your email address. You also need to send us a copy of the payment confirmation so that we can credit your account.

Do you offer other discounts?

We provide discounts and promotions from time to time. Sign up today and you could receive extra credits as part of one of our many promotions!

Do you charge more for international messages?

No, we currently charge the same for all destinations.

Is there a minimum monthly purchase required?

There are no minimum monthly charges. Simply purchase credits when you need more.

Will the system allow 1000 or more simultaneous messages?

Yes, our system can handle over and above that amount of messages per day at a time. The limit is quite high. SMSGlobal offers the same easy to use service whether you are a individual or bulk client.

Do you provide status reports for the undelivered messages?

Yes, all messages sent will have a status report whether successfully delivered or not (where available from the carrier)

How long does it take to deliver messages?

Our average delivery time to an AU mobile is just 3.10 seconds, and over 99.7% of messages are delivered within 30 seconds.

Is it possible to use the "Sender ID " parameter?

Yes. You can change this your self at any time on a per message basis. Sender Id can also be set via http request and email to SMS. You can specificy and phone number or any AlphaNumeric that is 11 characters or less.

Do you support non-English text? (The SMS will be written in your language)

Yes, you can send non-English Characters. On the 'Compose Message' page select 'Send as Unicode'. The character length for your message will be much shorter though, about 80 characters.

Do you support two-way SMS?

Yes, recipients of messages that you sent via our system can reply to your messages. The reply messages will be posted to your inbox folder in your account. You can also have replies forwarded to an email address or to a URL if you want. We can also offer you dedicated incoming SMS and MMS numbers that are forwarded to a URL on your server. The costs are just $25 setup + $25 per month inc GST. Please contact us to set this up.

Do you offer technical Support?

Technical support is available from support@smsglobal.com.au, or by calling 1300 883 400 during extended office hours. We have technical staff available 24 Hours a day should you notice a problem with our service.

How do I register?

Registering for an account is free and takes a few minutes. Please note that all fields must be completed to register. Once you register a code will be SMS'ed to your cell phone. This code will activate your free credits.

You will need to provide the following information:

  • Username (case sensitive)
  • Password (case sensitive)
  • First Name
  • Surname
  • Email
  • Mobile number (country code and number with no spaces or leading zero, e.g. 61409317436)
  • Telephone (e.g. 27828872376)
  • Fax (e.g. 27828872376)
  • Company
  • Street Address
  • Postal Address
  • Postal Code
  • City
  • Country
  • How did you hear about us?

Once you have entered the information correctly CLICK 'Register' and you will receive the following message: "You have been successfully registered. An activation code is being sent to your mobile phone right now."

If you do not receive your activation code please email Support to request it. Please include your username and mobile number in the email.

How do I Log in?

Either download the MobileBuddy client or click on the MobileWorks button at the top of the page. ENTER 'Username' and 'Password'. These are both case sensitive. CLICK 'Login' to access your home page.

I haven't received my activation code yet?

Please view coverage to see if our service is available in your area.

What format should mobile numbers be in?

Ideally mobile numbers should be in International format without the leading '00' or '+'. For example; 61409317436. For AU numbers, it is also possible to supply them in the 'local' format. For example; 0418317436. There should be no spaces or other symbols within numbers.

Do I get notified when my credits are low?

Yes. You automatically receive an email when less than 50 credits remain. You can change this to a higher or lower number if you wish.

Will the numbers I send to be used by SMSGlobal or any third-parties?

All the numbers and messages that you send are treated in the strictest confidence. We will never use them or share the information with other companies.

I've received an "unsolicited" SMS text message through your service

SMSGlobal do not generate unsolicited SMS messages or condone the sending of unsolicited SMS messages by our customers. We will investigate reports that we receive and inform the sender of the message that this is unacceptable. Continued breaches will result in our service being withdrawn from that customer. See our Acceptable Use Policy statement.

How to Install Mobile Buddy 2006

It's a standard install procedure for Windows programs.

  1. To download the install file, you click on the download link in
    http://www.globalsms.com.au/download.html
  2. The download takes only a few seconds thanks to a small file 180 KBytes
    When dowloaded, you click on Run button to start installing the files.
  3. You click a second time on Run to confirm the source of the program file.
  4. You approve the User Agreement by click on Agree
  5. You confirm the installation directory which is as standard Progarm Files under c:
    or you use other drive e.g d: if your installation require it.
  6. The installation of the files is executed and you get a shortcut on the desktop and in the Start menu

    Note: No Java envrironment or any other components are required

How to start using Mobile Buddy 2006

When installed properly, you start the client by clicking on the icon for Mobile Buddy 2006 in the destop or in the Start menu.
The launch of the program takes only a few seconds.
The first time, you need to register a Mobile Buddy account if you don't have one since before.
Click on Register button and fill the required fields which are only the name, the email address and mobile number.
Make sure you fill valid email address and mobile number with country code first (format 4670711111) because they are used to send the password to you,
The registration is controlled and when approved an email is sent to you with the full login details and some information for starting using Mobile Buddy.
You can change immediately your password to a preferred password by logging in and click on Preferences icon in the top toolbar.

How to Uninstall Mobile Buddy 2006

The Unistall procedure is also standard Windows Uninstall.
You have two options to do it:

  1. Selecting the menu Start > All Programs > Mobile Buddy 2006 and click on Uninstall
  2. Select Control Panel and Add/Remove Programs and Mobile Buddy 2006 for Remove

How to send a quick SMS?

Click the button Quick Send and you will see the Send Message page where you can type:

  1. The destination number in the field "To:".
    Format: e.g. 46707111111
    Please note
    The country code is required. 46 is for exampel for Sweden.
    The initial zero digits are omitted from the phone number 0707111111
  2. Text your message in the Message frame.
    Unicode format for languages like Chinese, Japanese and other international languages.
  3. Text your message in the Message frame.
    Maximum 70 characters if character set UTF-16 is used.
    Maximum 130 characters if character set UTF-8 is used.
    Maximum 160 characters if english or latin languages are used.
  4. Click on Send Message

How to send a SMS to a single contact?

  1. Select the contact in My Buddy List
  2. Double-Click on the contact or use right-click menu or click on Quick Send button
  3. You will see the Send Message page where you can see the destination number set in the field "To:".
    You can always use another number for repeated message to different numbers.
  4. Select unicode format UTF-16 if the language is Chinese, Japanese and other international languages using symbols.
  5. Text your message in the Message frame.
    Maximum 70 characters if character set UTF-16 is used.
    Maximum 130 characters if character set UTF-8 is used.
    Maximum 160 characters if english or latin languages are used.
  6. Click on Send Message
  7. You will see the message status in the message log page
  8. Return to My Buddy List by clicking on button Buddy List

How to send a SMS to a group of people?

  1. Select the group in My Buddy List
  2. Double-Click on the group name or use right-click menu or click on Quick Send button
  3. You will see the Send Message page where you can see the destination group name in the the field "To:".
    Please make sure you have correct numbers to avoid spam or unneeded lost of messages.
  4. Select unicode format UTF-16 if the language is Chinese, Japanese and other international languages using symbols.
  5. Text your message in the Message frame.
    Maximum 70 characters if character set UTF-16 is used.
    Maximum 130 characters if character set UTF-8 is used.
    Maximum 160 characters if english or latin languages are used.
  6. Click on Send Message
  7. You will see the message status in the message log page
  8. Return to My Buddy List by clicking on button Buddy List

How to schedule a SMS to send in the future?

  1. In the button part of the Send Message page, you click in the check box to Enable Schedule
  2. You select the date in the Calender
  3. You select the exact time for sending the message to single or group of contact

Please note:
You can schedule up to years ahead but it's recommended to schedule only up to 3 months ahaead.
For scheduling a notification to a larger group, use only one month scheduling and check carefully the group members to avoid spam or unneeded lost of credits.
You also need to check if you have enough credits before sending date

Flash SMS

You can set your SMS to be sent as Flash SMS by clicking on the check box Flash.
Flash SMS means the message is displayed directly on the phone. The receiver doesn't have to open the Inbox to read the new message.

Same contact can belong to many groups

  1. You can have a contact free from a group or belonging to one to many groups.
  2. A contact can included to other groups by copying it. Select it and right-click menu (Copy & Paste) on the mouse.
  3. If you move it with Drag & Drop, it's a move not a copy.
  4. A selected contact can be deleted either only from a group or from the whole My Buddy List. You get a question and you confirm.
  5. Contact's profile is unique for all copies of that contact. If you update it then it's valid for all copies.

Add groups, contacts and structured Buddy Lists

When you start with Mobile Buddy, you get an empty Mobile Buddy.
You can always just add the contacts in a flat list without groups.

However it's more easier to maintain and overview a structured Buddy List if the contacts are many.

You can either build a group list from the beginning or add them afterwards one by one by clicking on Add Group button or from the Menu Contacts or from the right-clck menu on the mouse.

Contacts can be added by clicking on button Add Contact or also from menu Contacts or right-click menu.

You need to fill at least the name or Nickname and the phone number.
Before saving, make sure you have the correct group selected.

Note
1. You can have a contact free from a group or in one to many groups.
2. The same contact can belong to many groups by copying it.
3. If you move it with Drag & Drop, it's a move not a copy.
4. A selected contact can be deleted either only from a group or from the whole My Buddy List.
5. A modified contact detail is valid for all copies of that contact
